Description
Billfold or wallet decorated with royal monogram of Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Presented to Lt. Gen. William P. Yarborough by the Crown Prince (now King Rama X), passing to the general a present from the prince’s mother. Yarborough was one of the U.S. Army’s most decorated figures in special warfare and a key architect of U.S.-Thai military relations. Though retired from the U.S. Army when he received this in 1999, Yarborough remained an influential figure in international military affairs and a respected ally of Southeast Asian leaders, including the Thai monarchy. Measures about 7″ wide. Provenance: Consigned by a long-time personal friend of General Yarborough, one who delivered a eulogy at the general’s 2005 funeral.
