Ornate Mexican sterling silver platter presented by Marcelino Garcia Barragan (Mexico’s secretary of defense) to then Major General William P. Yarborough (aka “Father of the Green Berets”) in April 1966, in connection with Yarborough’s involvement with the CMEUDC (Comissao Mexico-Estados Unidos de Defesa Conjunta), the Joint Mexico-United States Defense Commission. Measures about 12″ in diameter and weighs 705 grams. Provenance: Consigned by a long-time personal friend of General Yarborough, one who delivered a eulogy at the general’s 2005 funeral.
