Description
Sixth plate daguerreotype of an African American woman seated with a white baby. Woman is wearing a black dress with white inset, her neck accented with a brooch and what appears to be a long watch chain with slide. Her ward is in a white dress and possibly a jacket. The expressions of each tells a story with the child looking out of frame with some visible consternation and the nursemaid meeting the photographer with exhausted resignation. Most likely pre Civil War era. Plate approx. 2-3/4″ x 3″. This item can be shipped in-house. Multiple lot combined shipping may require 3rd Party shipping.
