Description
Mid-19th century percussion rifle by Ohio gunmaker E. Sleret (1815-1864), active in Chillicothe, Ross County. Barrel stamped “REMINGTON” (see photos) on underside and “E. SLERET” on top flat. Approximately .39 at bore. Features a 33″ octagonal barrel, with an overall length of approx. 49″. Stock is half-length walnut with cheek rest, fitted with brass buttplate, trigger guard, side plate, and decorative inlays including an eight-point star on the left butt and oval escutcheon.
