Description
Hand-carved Northwest Coast-style totem depicting an eagle perched above a kneeling bear, carved from a single block of red cedar. The bold, simplified forms and unpainted surface are characteristic of works by Nootka carver Jimmy John (Nuu-chah-nulth, Vancouver Island), active mid-20th century. Unsigned. Measures approximately 20″ tall. Condition
Repair to proper left wing of eagle with some light restoration and break lines visible in areas. Expected surface wear with some nicks, abrasions, and stable hairline fissures as shown. See images.
