French M1866 Chassepot sword bayonet with brass ribbed grip, yataghan-style curved blade, and steel crossguard with hooked quillon. Blade measures approx. 22-1/2″, overall length approx. 27-1/2″. Spine is engraved The spine is engraved “Y. FunckeCie Herdecke Mars 1868”, (French government contractor). Serial number “1722” stamped at the pommel. Steel scabbard included.
