Description

Straight blade measures approx. 33-1/4″, overall length 38-3/4″. Ricasso is marked “Giroult Paris 16 Rue Coquilliere.” Features a nickel-plated steel guard with triple-bar hilt, wire-wrapped black grip, and domed pommel. Includes single-ring nick-plated scabbard and attached sword knot. Though originally designed for field use as a thrusting weapon, this French Model 1882 Infantry Officer’s Sword was by the late 19th and early 20th centuries used almost exclusively for dress and parade purposes. The polished finish, ornate knot, and fragile grip construction are consistent with ceremonial wear rather than combat use.
