Description
British 1821 pattern light cavalry sword. Blade measures approx. 35″, overall 41″, and 1-3/16″ wide. Nickel-plated straight blade with single fuller extending about three-quarters of the length. Both sides are richly etched with crown, coat of arm, and floral motifs. Ricasso is stamped “Charles Reeves & Co., West Street, London W.” Opposite side features a hexagram proof mark with “HW” in the center, likely associated with Henry Wilkinson, whose company supplied or tested blades for multie London outfitters including Charles Reeves. Back spine is serial numbered “42216.” Hilt has a triple-bar steel guard and wire-wrapped ray skin grip. Includes brown leather-covered steel service scabbard. TAGS: 1821P, British cavalry.
