Description
Sealed pint bottle of Old Taylor Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, a rare survivor from the Prohibition era. One of two in today’s auction. Tax stamp reads “Spring 1924 Spring 1916,” showing this bourbon was distilled in Spring 1916 and bottled in Spring 1924 as an 8-year-old whiskey. Stamped “Export” on top. The back label carries the mandated “For Medicinal Purposes Only,” reflecting its legal distribution through pharmacies with a doctor’s prescription during Prohibition. Old Taylor was named for Colonel E.H. Taylor, a key figure in Kentucky bourbon history and an early advocate for the Bottled-in-Bond Act. Bottles like this were produced under government license in pint size specifically for medicinal sale. The bottle remains sealed with original tax stamp and labels intact, offering a rare piece of American whiskey and Prohibition history. Measures about 8-1/2″ high.
