British Pattern 1853 Enfield rifle-musket with lockplate dated 1862 and marked TOWER. Brass-mounted military configuration with brass buttplate, trigger guard and nose cap. Stock bears British crown inspection stamp opposite the lock. Additional carved markings on the buttstock include a large E, the number 85 and a separate inscription that appears to read VT. Various British inspection marks are present on the metal components. The rifle is of the type extensively used during the Civil War, though no markings have been identified that establish Union or Confederate service. No visible inspector cartouches. Overall length approximately 55″. This item can be shipped in-house. Multiple lot combined shipping may require 3rd Party shipping.

Condition
Mechanically sound. Some pitting on barrel and lockplate. Overall fair to good condition. Stock has dings and scratches from use, but no cracks.
