Description
Original charcoal and gouache by James Montgomery Flagg (American, 1877-1960), an artist best known for his Uncle Sam recruitment posters in WWI. Depicts standing man figure, the actor Thomas Meighan. Image was used in the poster for “The Alaskan,” a 1924 Paramount silent movie also starring Estelle Taylor. Signed lower left. Sight size 37″ x 19-1/2″ frame 39-1/2″ x 21-1/2″. Provenance: Given to the actor (Meighan) by the artist. Artwork has always been in possession of the Meighan family. The actor was the consignor’s second great uncle. This item will need to be shipped by a packing company of your choice. We maintain a list of reliable shippers, or you may choose your own.
