Description
Ninth plate ambrotype depicting a seated African American woman. Nice crisp image with hand tinted cheeks, gold gilt brooch at the center of her painted white lace collar, and possibly some white embellishment to the hair near the part. Appears to be an early example of an ambro based on the woman’s dress, pre Civil War, antique 1850’s image. Plate overall approx. 2″ x 2-1/2″, oval opening of mat approx. 1-1/2″ x 2″. This item can be shipped in-house. Multiple lot combined shipping may require 3rd Party shipping.
Condition
Image appears to be in excellent condition with some minor typical age related wear in the lower quarter. Case is incomplete with some wear. See images for more details.
