Spencer Model 1865 repeating carbine, Serial #24517. Manufactured by Burnside Rifle Co., Providence, Rhode Island. Chambered for the .56-60 caliber rimfire cartridge, aka .50 Spencer. Round barrel measures 20″, overall length 37″. Marked on top of receiver “MODEL 1865 SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE PAT’D MARCH 6, 1860 MANUF’D AT PROV. R.I. BY BURNSIDE RIFLE CO.” Distinctive lever-operated, seven-shot tubular magazine design. Two inspection cartouches visible on left side of stock. Condition
Clean & shiny bore. Finish has a scattered gray-brown patina. Stock has scattered dings, scratches, & finish patina loss were a piece of tape was. See images.
