Original handwritten ship’s journal dated 1916 for the sailing vessel “Beechbank,” commanded by Captain Johannessen and owned by S.O. Stray & Co. of Christianssand, Norway. The opening page lists the ship’s representatives: Mr. Kverndal (Owner’s Representative), Capt. Woxholtt (Superintendent), and Mr. Sutherland (Underwriter’s Representative). Entries dated April 13, 1916, record technical operations relating to the ship’s rigging and lifting gear, including use of 10″ M.T. treble blocks, chain slings rated for 10 tons, and references to large derricks “Leviathan” and “Hercules.” The text mentions coordination with the Port of London Authority (P.L.A.) and work at the South West India Dock, with notes about moving the vessel from Millwall and the West India Docks.
