Description
Heavy cast bronze, two-piece construction (bowl on separate base), embellished with archaistic Zhou-style motifs (taotie masks, leiwen key-fret border, stylized dragon-scroll registers). Measures approximately 42″ in diameter and 30″ high, estimated weight over 200 lb. Styled after early Chinese ding/cauldron forms used in ritual. Patina and casting characteristics suggest Republic-era (1920s-50s) or possibly late Qing-dynasty production rather than a late-20th-century copy. Suitable as a dramatic temple vessel, garden urn or large decorative censer. Patination natural, not applied, from long exposure outdoors. This item will need to be shipped by a packing company of your choice. We maintain a list of reliable shippers, or you may choose your own.
