Description
Commemorative pin or badge recognizing the Civil War veterans of Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Veteran Zouaves of Elizabeth, under the leadership of Commander James Madison Drake, were part of the funeral procession for Ulysses S. Grant in New York, August 8, 1885. The group became a company of the National Guard for the state and were active in the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic). Housed in period folding fabric case, lined with purple velvet and secured with a snap. Medal approx. 2″ x 3-1/2″, case when closed approx. 3″ x 5″. This item can be shipped in-house.
