Description
Handwritten “Soldier’s Claim for Bounty” — an 1880 document explaining a Union sailor’s service aboard the Iosco, commanded by Capt. Andrew Drake. (Document misspells the gunboat “Arosco.”) Sailor has apparently lost his paperwork to prove his service, as “some thoughtless children in the absence of their parents totally [sic] destroyed his discharge papers.” Three page document measures 12-3/8″ x 8″.
