Description
Pre Civil War era journal documenting the voyages of the clipper “Golden Eagle”. Attached to the back cover is a folding map titled “Map of California, Oregon, Texas and the Territories adjoining With Routes &c.”. Published: J.H. Colton No. 86 Cedar St. New York. Dated 1849. Map shows the upper border of the United States labeled as “Boundary according to Treaty of 1847”, “Upper or New California”, and “Indian Territory” found carved out between multiple states. Also notes where indigenous peoples are living within the territories. Map approx. 18-1/4″ x 21-1/8″, journal overall approx. 7″ x 8-1/2″. This item can be shipped in-house.
