Description
Map of Vietnam, with images of U.S. military patches showing locations where each of the respective units were active during the war. The 19-7/8″ x 25-7/8″ poster, mounted to foam core, is signed and numbered 460/500 by the designer/artist Joe Campbell lower right. The center is signed by Admiral Ulysses S. Grant Sharp, General William Westmoreland and President Gerald Ford. Admiral Sharp directed U.S. air and naval strategy in Vietnam, while General Westmoreland led ground forces and oversaw the major troop buildup and attrition strategy. After the fall of Saigon in 1975, Ford ordered the evacuation of Americans and thousands of South Vietnamese through Operation Frequent Wind, the largest helicopter evacuation in history.
