Remington Rolling Block rifle with receiver marked REMINGTONS ILION N.Y. U.S.A. PAT. MAY 3D NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH 1866. Receiver stamped XX. Barrel length 39″, overall length 54-1/2″. Bore measures approx. .58″ (15 mm). Folding rear sight mounted on barrel. Three-barrel-band configuration with iron furniture and sling swivels. Walnut stock and forend. This example does not have the half cock feature, correct for early production rifles, and is without a bayonet mount, possibly connected to early U.S. trials or militia issue.
