Sculpture commemorating “Operation Power Pack,” the 1965 U.S. military intervention in the April Revolution civil war in the Dominican Republic. Hoping to thwart more Cold War unrest, President Lyndon Johnson directed the American military to deploy, with the intention of stabilizing the area and preventing the country falling to communist rule. Copper finish figure of a soldier carrying gear, mounted on a wood base with an engraved plaque. Approx. 4-1/4″ square x 9-3/4″H. Age appropriate wear to finish.
