Description
Original WWII-era U.S. M3 flak helmet, designed to protect Army Air Forces bomber crews from shell fragments and anti-aircraft fire. Constructed of steel with hinged ear flaps on both sides, a key identifying feature unique to the M3 design. Helmetis hand-painted “MAPHIS” on the front and “M-2753″ across the top in yellow, likely denoting crew or unit identification. Measures approx. 10-1/2″ front to back, 10″ wide, and 9” tall.
