Tintype ninth plate photograph image of a very young Union soldier in uniform holding a bayonet rifle. Seated boy, hand colored with tinted cheeks, gold gilt hat insignia, buttons, Union eagle breastplate, and buckle. Outstanding mat by Holmes Booth & Haydens with a Union design including thirteen stars, flags, a drum, and a cannon, having a ribbon with the words “The Union Now And Forever”. Crisp image of a very serious young man. Case approx. 2-3/8″ x 2-7/8″. Good condition with some weato the plate, primarily near the mat. Case with typical wear and repaired hinge.
