Pro Patria: Relics & Trophies of War
Lot 123:
Description
From the personal collection of Lt. Gen. William P. Yarborough. Pair of vintage, circa late 1940s sterling silver cufflinks, each depicting a paratrooper surrounded by a niello (black) border. Marked Made in Siam and Sterling on back, as well as “Alex Co.” (While Siam adopted the name “Thailand” officially in 1949, apparently some of the silver jewelry from Thailand was marked Siam for a few more years, so these could be from the 1950s.) Note: Even without the connection to Yarborough, miliary-themed Siamese niello items are extremely scarce. Provenance: Consigned by a long-time personal friend of General Yarborough, one who delivered a eulogy at the general’s funeral. Unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic, without reservation or time limit. Fine, with typical tarnish. shipping info This item can be shipped in-house.
