Description
Miniature painting of nude women along the water’s edge, set into an openwork gold plated brooch-type frame, circa 1920s by Fauvist artist Emile Othon Friesz (French, 1879-1949). Material unknown — possibly stone or wood. Frame measures 2-1/4" wide. Painting is 9/16" x 1-1/8". Signed "E Othon Friesz" on gray-painted verso. Provenance: From the collection of artist Dietz Edzard, thence by descent. Edzard was, according to the family, acquainted with Friesz in the early 20th century. This item can be shipped in-house.
