Egyptian Citadel Martini Rifle. Barrel measures approx. 30-1/4″, 46-1/4″ overall. Markings: “E” on top barrel flat, stock disc has unit number, loading lever has arrow over WD and Crown over E over 54 markings. The left of the receiver is marked with an Egyptian star over a crescent and “CITADEL / 1906” or “1908”, last digit is hard to read. These rifles were Martini-Enfield pattern single-shots rebuilt at the Cairo Citadel arsenal around 1903-1908 from surplus British components, chambered in .303 British for Egyptian forces service. This example features extensive non-standard embellishments including floral-decorated barrel bands, wrapped wire forearm reinforcement, and engraved metal fittings.
