November Exceptional Estates Auction
Lot 303:
Description
Realistically sculpted wax figural portrait bust of Francisco “Pancho” Villa. Mounted on a Spanish Colonial style polychrome and gold gilt shelf, presumed to be part of a shrine to the leader, a polarizing figure seen by many as a hero and by others as ruthless bandit. Regardless of one’s stance, his impact on the Mexican Revolution can’t be denied. Sculpted or molded wax head possibly based off of a death mask, embellished with what appears to be horse hair and what are assumed to be glass eyes. Approx. 21″ x 27″ x 12″. This item will need to be shipped by a packing company of your choice. We maintain a list of reliable shippers, or you may choose your own.
Condition
Shelf has overall typical wear. Head with splits to the wax, flattened nose. The hat has not been removed for further inspection. See images for details.
