Description
US Springfield single-shot trapdoor breechloading rifle in .45-70 Government caliber. Manufactured at Springfield Armory. Serial no. 517870. Barrel measures approximately 32-1/2″, overall length 50″. Features the Buffington rack-and-pinion rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation, serrated trigger, and stock cartouche dated 1891. The Model 1884 represented the final major evolution of the Springfield Trapdoor series. These rifles remained in U.S. military service through the Indian Wars period and saw continued use during the Spanish-American and Philippine-American Wars. Condition
Finish has a gray-brown patina. Bore is clean and shiny with visible rifling. Stock has age appropriate wear, no cracks found. See images.
