Overall approx. 35″, etched blade measures 29-3/4″ and bears “U.S.” among decorative scrollwork. Brass three-branch guard with black composition grip and finger grooves. Nickel-plated scabbard with twin suspension rings and attached leather sword knot. Regulation officer’s saber adopted in 1902 for dress and ceremonial wear, representing authority rather than battlefield function. Constructed of tempered steel with bright finish, designed for formal uniform use through both World Wars.
