Description

Lt. Gen. William P. Yarborough, “the Father of the Green Berets,” was well known to have been an artist. Perhaps his most famous piece of art was his 1941 design of the U.S. Army Parachutist badge (“Jump Wings”) and its later manifestations, which were approved in 1941 by the Department of War. In his later years, Yarborough began painting abstracts. This is one of his paintings on canvas board, signed and dated lower right. Measures 22″ x 28″. Unconditionally guaranteed to be original work by LTG Yarborough, without reservation or time limit. Provenance: Consigned by a long-time personal friend of General Yarborough, one who delivered a eulogy at the general’s 2005 funeral.
