US Navy Model 1841 Naval Cutlass, marked on ricasso USN 1842 on one side and N.P. Ames Cabotville Mass on the other. Features a 21″ blade and 26-1/2″ overall length. Cast brass fish-scale grip with eagle motif pommel and guard is marked 27, 2b / 3. This cutlass type was issued to the US Navy and saw use during both the Mexican War and Civil War.
